What is reborn bonding?

I will admit, the term “bonding” in reference to reborn dolls is a bit odd to me. I think my issue with the term, is that the definition of bonding is the “intense attachment between a parent and a child”. So it’s a 2-way connection and attachment. You can’t have a 2-way bond between a reborn doll and yourself.

What I’m gathering is that in the reborn community, bonding boils down to, they are either interested in their reborn baby (bonded), or they’re not (no bond). I’ve seen people get a reborn doll in they just bought, and immediately say they can’t bond and want to sell the baby. That seems more like buyers remorse. Having a Favorite Reborn Baby

I believe that many have a favorite doll in their collection. While it’s socially taboo to have a favorite human child, that’s not the case with reborn babies. I would go on to say that having a favorite baby is similar to what others refer to as bonding. I like to say that my favorite reborn baby is the one I’m currently holding. 😉

Reborns Don’t Care

I always remember that these are baby dolls. Life-like baby dolls – absolutely – but still dolls. All bonding aside, reborns don’t care if you hold them everyday, how often you change them, take them shopping with you or even if you put them on display. You can always come back to them whenever you want to and/or have time to, they aren’t going anywhere. Honestly, that’s one benefit of a reborn over a human baby; the lack of constant care needs. No crying, no feeding, no waking up at night and no stinky diaper changes. You get only the good baby stuff; quiet, calm, easy to care for baby doll that you can interact with only when you want to.
